1. Your bed is for sleeping.

Let me ask you this, do you do anything besides sleep and have sex in your bed? Eureka, I’ve got it! The reason you’re having a hard time falling asleep is because your brain subconsciously relates your bed to alertness and activation. Sleep researcher Ståle Pallesen believes if you engage in waking-hour activities in the bedroom you will begin to associate it with activating stimuli (in other words, you’re screwed.)

Trust me, I understand how satisfying it is to press snooze, turn to your side, and fall back asleep. Have you ever noticed if you do fall back asleep after you press snooze you wake up feeling more tired? According to Adam Tishman, sleep expert, you’re tricking your brain into thinking its sleep mode.

3. Don’t check your phone notifications first thing in the morning.

Checking your phone notification sucks you into this social media bubble. You’re bombarded by texts, emails, likes, comments, shares, tweets, and so much more. Believe it or not, starting your day with scrolling can set you up for a day that is all over the place. If you have a habit of scrolling first thing in the morning, be prepared for scatter brain. 

4. Get some natural light!

You need to pull back your curtains, open your blinds, and let some light shine in. Natural light improves your mood, helps you sleep, and increases productivity. Fun fact: psychiatrists recommend that people get direct sunlight for at least 30 minutes a day to help prevent or treat depression.

Summer Try-On Haul ft. Boohoo

I decided to splurge a little (more like a lot) on a website called Boohoo. I spent $140 including shipping on 16 items.

I don’ know about you but I LOVE buying clothes for the summer. There’s something about the bright colors, fun prints and patterns, and happiness that comes along with splurging on clothes. I decided to splurge a little (more like a lot) on a website called Boohoo.  Boohoo is inexpensive and always on trend, plus you can always find a coupon code or sale going on. Without further ado, let me show you the inexpensive pieces I purchased:

In the video above, I mention many items so I won’t repeat myself too much but I will mention some of my favorite pieces.

The Molly Tie Wrap Front Blouse was hands down one of my favorite items. Wrap tie tops are so flattering on the body, even for less bustier gals like myself. The color red by itself is a show stopper so this blouse will have everyone’s heads turning. The Ceris Thigh Split Stripe Mini Skirt is sexy AND comfortable. Let’s be honest, bloating is inevitable but with this skirt there’s no need to unbutton your bottoms because there aren’t any!

The Julia Satin Angel Sleeve Tie Front is of course, another wrap tie top. If you aren’t one for wearing a bra then this style of top is perfect for you. As I mentioned in the haul, the Abi Layered Chain Choker And Plunge Necklace is eye catching for those deep plunge tops.

Last, but certainly not least, the Kayla Bar And Coin Layered Necklace is great for adding some detail to an outfit. Below I wear the necklace with a bikini to spice up the otherwise plain ensemble, in other words, for Instagram.

How To Nail Your Interview!

(By the way, if you currently do not have any prospective job interviews but are looking, try using LinkedIn Jobs. If you don’t have a LinkedIn profile this is the time to make one!)


  • Prep: Create a cheat sheet with company information like founded date, values, recent press releases, and so on. You also want to create sample questions and answers like “why do you want to work for [insert company name]?” and “why did you choose [insert major]?” This cheat sheet will especially come in handy during phone and Skype interviews.
  • Research: Glassdoor is a website that lists a wide variety of company salaries and interview questions. You will definitely want to take a look and prepare any questions asked previously in other interviews. If you’re interested in the company’s culture check out the company reviews section to get a grasp of what working for the company may be like.
  • Attire: Make sure you have the appropriate outfit for the interview. You can never go wrong with a blazer and the color black. Below I’ve listed a few examples of what your outfit should look like:

  • Punctuality: You want to be at least 10 minutes early, now, I don’t mean parking your car and running inside with 5 minutes to spare. Being punctual shows your professionalism and your interest in the position. It also gives you time to review your cheat sheet which is a plus.
  • Posture: Believe it or not, power posing is a great way to get that extra boost of confidence. Poses pictured below actually boost testosterone levels and reduce cortisol levels (stress levels). Find a private space and pose as shown for about 2 minutes for a confidence boost. Studies show people who power pose prior to interviews are more likely to get hired.

  • Greeting:  You always want to shake hands at the beginning and end of an interview. Your handshake should be firm and not floppy. You should also look the other person in the eye during the greeting.
  • Surprises: If you’re caught off guard by an unexpected question then take a pause and restate the question that way you have a little more time to think. I try to relate my answer back to the company’s values and always end on a positive note.
  • Questions: Always have at least two questions to ask the interviewer to demonstrate your interest in the position. A few examples are “What have people previously in this position struggled with?”, “What do you expect the person in this position to accomplish within the first few weeks?” and so on. I would have a few questions on hand and ask whichever I feel are most relevant in the situation.


  • Gratitude: Never forget to send the interviewer a ‘thank you’ note. You want to send this message within 24 hours of the interview. Keep it short and sweet, something along the lines of “Dear so &so, Thank you for meeting with me yesterday. I appreciate the opportunity to be considered for the position. I am excited to join x, y, & z company….” this will demonstrate your interest in the position.

Let me clarify by saying I am no interview expert but I have learned through trial and error. I’d rather you avoid making the same mistakes I did than have to learn through rejection. But even if you don’t get the job you wanted, it’s still great practice, and you’ll be better prepared in the future. Good luck job hunting!

10 Tips to ALWAYS Look Your Best

1. Basics are just that, basics. You can’t go wrong with neutral tones and basic clothing pieces like a white tee, jeans, and booties. When in doubt, stick with what you know.

2. Wrinkle free=worry free. Remember when you said “screw it” and walked out the door wearing a t-shirt that’d been crumpled up in the bottom of your drawer for six months? Well, let’s try to avoid doing that. Wrinkle free clothing is a simple way of showing you have your life together.

3. Fit matters. You want to wear clothing that flatters you, don’t keep an item if “you’ll grow into it” or if “you’ll lose a few pounds.”

4. Invest in good quality undergarments. Panty lines are the WORST. Seamless panties/thongs work like a charm. An ill-fitting bra can be spotted a mile away, make sure your bra size is actually your bra size.

5. Monochromatic outfits are perfect for when you don’t know what to wear. By simply wearing the same color items you look like you put in a lot of effort when really you just played eye spy.

6. Nail upkeep is necessary.  You know that if you look really nice but have chipped nails it almost takes always from the outfit. Chipped nails look like you don’t take the time to take care of yourself, avoid this altogether.

7. Simple jewelry makes an outfit look well thought out. Delicate and dainty jewelry pieces tie your outfit together.

8. The front tuck can make any top instantly more flattering. Tucking in your top partly or entirely shapes your body better. Sometimes if a top is too big or on the longer side it almost seems like you’re drowning in it. The front tuck creates a more visually pleasing outfit.

9. Hair is just as important as any other accessory. If your hair is styled you automatically look more put together. A quick and simple hair idea is a bun, high, low, or medium. The bun is especially useful if you haven’t washed your hair in a few days.

10.  Layering is an easy way to appear more stylish. The key to layering is making sure you don’t look like a marshmallow. You will want to start with more fitting pieces and layer on looser pieces. Adjust your style to the fit of the items.

5 Tips to Get Glowing Summer Time Skin!

I get it, this year you want to glow, shine, and glisten your way into your best summer ever. I am here for it.

Summer is around the corner and you can’t remember the last time you shaved… Girl, I am right there with you, let’s figure out how to get the perfect summer time skin together!

1. Exfoliate: Exfoliation is key to remove the dead skin cells that accumulate on the body, try to exfoliate about twice a week. FYI loofah’s do not exfoliate well and are a breeding ground for bacteria, an alternative is a micro-exfoliation towel. If you’re looking for some extra oomph, try a body scrub. I’ve listed a few DIY body scrubs that can be made from ingredients that are right in your kitchen.

  • Option #1: You will need oatmeal, brown sugar, and olive oil. Mix 1/4 cup of olive oil, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, and 1/2 cup of ground oatmeal. Once all the ingredients are combined you are ready to exfoliate. Begin by wetting your skin and applying in circular motions, then rinse.
  • Option #2: You will need a banana and some brown sugar, that’s it! Mix 1 ripe banana and 1 tbsp of brown sugar till you have a paste like mixture. Begin by wetting your skin and applying the mixture and waiting for about a minute and then massage in circular motions.
  • Option #3: You will need brown sugar, honey, olive oil, and vanilla. Mix 2 1/4 cups of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of olive oil, 1/4 cup of honey, and a tsp of vanilla. Combine all the ingredients until fully mixed. Now get your exfoliation on!

How To: Prevent Pesky UTI’s

So, you are either a) currently suffering from a urinary tract infection or b) been there, done that, and don’t wanna go back.

So, you are either a) currently suffering from a urinary tract infection or b) been there, done that, and don’t wanna go back. First things first, I’m gonna tell you the ugly truth about those Victoria Secret panties, they are not doing you any favors. If you’d rather not wince every time you pee, I suggest you keep on reading.

Let me clarify what causes a urinary tract infection, either outside bacteria enters the urinary tract or the bacteria in your bladder multiplies to unhealthy levels.

1. Do not hold your pee. If you hold your pee for a long time you are making your body more susceptible to harmful bacteria which can cause a UTI.

2. Drink plenty of water AND pee often. By drinking a lot of water you are flushing out your system (literally) and decreasing the possibility of any bacteria lingering for long.

3. WASH UP BEFORE AND AFTER SEX. Please do yourself the favor of cleansing yourself relatively shortly after any sexual activities. Make sure you pee after sex (before you shower), that way you flush out any bacteria that may have entered the urinary tract.

4. Do not douche. Douching sends water and or antiseptics into your vagina to wash out bad vaginal bacteria BUT it also removes the good bacteria.

5. Incorporate supplements in your diet. Whether it’s cranberry juice or orange juice, both reduce risk of developing an infection.

6. If it ain’t cotton, don’t wear it. Polyester underwear traps moisture and bacteria against the body. Cotton is a more breathable fabric which allows air to circulate.

If you take away anything from this, please let it be to wash yourself after sex. I know far too many people who don’t think its a big deal, it is. I hope your bladder health flourishes!
